In 1992, Axel became CEO of the Thai and German operations of ICN Data, a global E-Business Consulting and System Integration Business with offices in Europe, Asia and North America. During his five years with ICN Data, he led many pioneering Internet and e-business projects in Asia and contributed to the Royal Thai Government’s IT Masterplan.
Accenture recruited Axel as a regional leader in Internet and E-Business in 1997. Axel focused on implementing leading and groundbreaking E-Business solutions at Fortune 100 and local companies. In 2000, Axel moved to Accenture in Europe, to focus on larger IT Transformation initiatives and large outsourcing engagement across a range of different industries. He also co-managed the largest Accenture project worth approx. 3.5BN USD.
Axel joined GE Capital Group as CTO for the Asia Region in 2004. His focus was to develop and implement a regional IT Operations and Infrastructure strategy. Axel created a regional shared services organization in Bangkok, which reduced regional IT cost by 25%. He also managed the global banking platform and its technical implementation at the local bank.
Based on this success, Axel was appointed to the position of Global Chief Architect for 56 countries. The key focus as Enterprise Architect was to provide a vision for a 'Service Oriented Architecture' implementation and at the same time to enable a global open source usage to aggressively reduce costs. In addition to introducing a harmonized Model, Axel also coached CIOs around the globe. The team around Axel also engaged in R&D activities with leading vendors.
Most recently, Axel moved to Deloitte Consulting Southeast Asia to head up the new IT Consulting Portfolio for Financial Services in the region. In his first 9 months, he managed to obtain projects with several key global clients - helping them to mature their IT and introduce new products and services based on proper Enterprise Architecture.
Currently, Axel is work at CISCO Systems, Inc. as Regional Enterprise Architect for the Asia Pacific Region and is working with top tier clients and partners of Cisco to transform their technology platforms, driving IT into a value leading role within enterprises across different industries.
