In 1992, Axel became CEO of the Thai and German operations of ICN Data, a global E-Business Consulting Business with offices in Europe, Asia and North America. He led many pioneering projects in Asia and contributed to the Royal Thai Government’s IT Masterplan.

Accenture recruited Axel as a regional leader in E-Business in 1997, with a focus on implementing leading and groundbreaking solutions at Fortune 100 and local companies. In 2000, Axel moved to Accenture Europe, to focus on larger IT Transformation and large outsourcing engagements, with the largest one he co-managed  worth approx. 3.5BN USD. Axel also was involved in developing Accenture's IT Strategy and the APplication Delivery Methodologies. 

Axel joined GE Capital Group as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for the Asia Region in 2004. His focus was to develop and implement a regional IT Operations and Infrastructure strategy, with a regional shared services organization, which reduced regional IT cost by 25%. He also managed the global banking platform and its technical implementation at the local bank. Based on this success, Axel was appointed to the position of Head of IT Strategy and Planning ( Global Chief Architect) for 56 countries. The key focus was to provide a vision for a 'Service Oriented Architecture' implementation and at the same time to enable a global open source usage to aggressively reduce costs. In addition to introducing a harmonized Model, Axel also coached CIOs around the globe. The team around Axel also engaged in R&D activities with leading vendors.

Axel moved to Deloitte Consulting Southeast Asia in 2009, to head up the new IT Consulting Portfolio for Financial Services in the region. In his first 9 months, he managed to obtain projects with several key global clients - helping them to mature their IT and introduce new products and services based on proper Enterprise Architecture.

This followed by CISCO Systems, where Axel worked as Chief Technology Office (Data Center) for the Asia Region. Axel focuses on developing consulting type multi year engagements with the focus to transform internal IT, but also develop new business models for Telecommunications and other Service Providers. Axel's significant contribution, to leading Asian Enterprises streamlining their expenses, driving agility, and supporting the drive to a new IT Model by adopting Cloud Technologies and Methods has been recognized around the region. With the knowledge of user needs, Axel is also creating also a new platform of Cloud Service Providers around the Asia Region, defining new revenue enhancing, business offerings and ventures. This encompasses business strategy, operating models, aligned IT Strategy and supporting the execution of these.

Currently, Axel is working at Stanard Chartered Bank and heading the global transaction architecture functions. Essentially, working on Business and IT Strategy for the bank.

ประวัติส่วนตัวในปี พ.ศ. 2535 Axel Winter ได้ร่วมงานในตำแหน่ง CEO ของบริษัท ICN Data สาขาประเทศไทย และ ประเทศเยอรมันี ซึ่งบริษัท ICN Data นั้นเป็นบริษัทชั้นนำด้าน E-Business และ System Integration ซึ่งมีสาขาทั้งในอเมริกา ยุโรป และ เอเซีย ตลอดระยะเวลา 5 ปีที่ Axel ทำงานที่ ICN Data เขาได้บริหารโครงการที่เกี่ยวกับระบบอินเตอร์เน็ตสมัยใหม่ และ E-Business ในเอเชียมากมาย และยังช่วยให้คำปรึกษาในการวางแผนแม่บททางด้านระบบสารสนเทศของรัฐบาลไทยด้วย

ในปี พ.ศ. 2540 Axel ได้ร่วมงานกับบริษัท Accenture ในตำแหน่งผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านอินเตอร์เน็ตและ E-Business ของภูมิภาคเอเซีย ซึ่งรับผิดชอบในการนำเสนอ solutions ต่างๆ ด้าน E-Business ให้กับบริษัทชั้นนำระดับโลก รวมทั้งบริษัทสำคัญๆ ในแต่ละประเทศในภูมิภาคเอเซีย และต่อมาในปี พ.ศ. 2543 Axel ได้ย้ายไป บริษัท Accenture ที่ยุโรป รับผิดชอบเกี่ยวกับโครงการด้านการพัฒนาระบบ IT เพื่อนำไปประยุกต์ใช้ในการบริหารงานให้เกิดประสิทธิภาพสูงสุด รวมทั้ง การดำเนินการด้าน IT outsourcing ให้กับกลุ่มธุรกิจต่างๆ ซึ่งหนี่งในโครงการเหล่านั้น Axel ได้ร่วมบริหารโครงการขนาดใหญ่ที่สุดของ Accenture ที่มีมูลค่าสูงถึง 3.5 พันล้านเหรียญสหรัฐ

ในปี พ.ศ. 2547 ได้เข้าร่วมกับกลุ่มบริษัท GE Capital ในตำแหน่ง CTO ดูแลภูมิภาคเอเชีย หน้าที่หลักคือการพัฒนาและการดำเนินกลยุทธ์ เกี่ยวกับการปฏิบัติการด้านระบบสารสนเทศ และ IT Infrastructure สำหรับภูมิภาค นอกจากนี้ Axel ได้จัดตั้งหน่วยงานให้บริการด้านระบบสารสนเทศขึ้น (shared services organisation) ที่กรุงเทพ ซึ่งสามารถช่วยลดค่าใช้จ่ายทางด้านระบบสารสนเทศลงถึง 25 % นอกจากนี้ยังรับผิดชอบด้าน ระบบ global banking platform ซึ่ง Axel ได้นำระบบนี้มาใช้สำหรับธนาคารในประเทศไทยด้วย

จากความสำเร็จดังกล่าว ทำให้เขาได้รับการแต่งตั้งเป็น Global Chief Architect ที่ดูแล 56 ประเทศ ในฐานะผู้นำทางด้าน Enterprise Architect เขาได้กําหนดวิสัยทัศน์สำหรับการนำสถาปัตยกรรม SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) มาใช้ รวมทั้งการนำเทคโนโลยี open source มาใช้ในทุกๆประเทศซึ่งช่วยลดต้นทุนด้าน IT ลงเป็นอย่างมาก นอกจากการสร้างมาตรฐานในการนำระบบต่างๆมาใช้ Axel ยังคอยให้คำปรึกษาแก่ CIO ทั่วโลก และติดต่อใกล้ชิดกับตัวแทนจำหน่ายชั้นนำด้าน IT เกี่ยวกับกิจกรรมวิจัยและพัฒนา ของบริษัทเหล่านั้น

เมื่อไม่นานมานี้ Axel ได้เข้าร่วมงานกับ Deloitte Consulting Southeast Asia รับผิดชอบในการก่อตั้งหน่วยธุรกิจที่ปรึกษาด้าน IT สำหรับกลุ่มบริษัททางด้านการเงินของเอชีย ในช่วง 9 เดือนแรก เขาได้รับความไว้วางใจจากหลายบริษัทชั้นนำ ให้ดำเนินโครงการต่างๆเพื่อช่วยพัฒนาระบบ IT ซึ่ง Axel ได้แนะนำผลิตภัณฑ์และบริการใหม่ๆ ให้กับบริษัทเหล่านั้นตามความเหมาะสมด้านสถาปัตยกรรมสารสนเทศ (proper Enterprise Architecture)

ปัจจุบัน เอกเซลทำงานอยู่ที่บริษัท ซิสโก้ ซิสเต็ม ในตำแหน่ง Chief Technology Officer สำหรับภูมิภาคเอเซียแปซิฟิก โดยทำงานร่วมกับลูกค้าและคู่ค้าทางธุรกิจรายสำคัญๆของซิสโก้ ในการกำหนดเปลี่ยน platform ด้านเทคโนโลยี่ ซึ่งจะเป็นส่วนผลักดันให้ระบบสารสนเทศมีบทบาทสำคัญในองค์กรสำหรับธุรกิจ ประเภทต่างๆ
